Zhiqiang Zhao, born in Binzhou City, Shandong Province in June 1986, is a lecturer and master supervisor at the School of Energy and Mining, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). He is currently the chief engineer of the Coal Mine Roadway Support and Disaster Prevention Engineering Research Center. In 2014, he graduated from a MD-PhD program of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), specializing in mining engineering, obtained a doctorate in engineering, and stayed on as a teacher. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research ofroadwaymine pressure theory and disaster prevention, rapid and intelligent roadway tunneling, underground engineering defect management. He has led 2 sub-projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1projectof the Youth Branch of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in 1 National Key R&D Project, 1 project of National Program 973, 1 key project and many joint projects of National Natural Science Foundation. He has received 2 second National Prize forProgressin Science and Technology (ranking 6th), 2 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level (ranking 2nd& 4th), 3 second prizes (1st, 1st and 2nd). He has published 11 SCI and EI papers as first author or corresponding author, and was granted 3invention patents, 4 utility modelpatents, and 5 software copyrights. He offers undergraduate courses titled "Underground Engineering" and "Introduction to Mining", graduate courses titled "Pressure Theory and Application in Preparatory Workings " and "Underground Engineering Structure and Stability" and doctoral course titled "Underground Construction Engineering" .
He supervises postgraduates in the following specialties: (1)butterfly failuretheoryand its application in roof fall, dynamic disaster, gas drainage; (2) rapid intelligent tunneling technology and equipment; (3) subway tunnel safety construction and defect management (a joint program with China Railway Science Research Institute).
